Baby
with Laura Blake / 2018-20
Carved & dyed birch.
This collaboration combines Laura Blake’s interest in dying wood, and mine in carving it. We both have a fascination with tactility, and inviting the audience to touch our work. This form is designed to be sat with, held, and hugged. We are keen to see how spending intimate time with materials, can help combat stress and isolation in the same way as human interaction. Our use of greenwood means this work will take about a year to properly dry, and will dramatically change with cracks along the way.
Baby On Stilts (2020)
This piece was accidentaly revisited while dying and carving new pieces. I shaped and dyed a triple-horned scupture which happened to meet “Baby”, and now they live their best life together, one on top of the other, and viceversa.(pictures seen below).
